民国十二年，破胆清室皇帝虽已退位，破胆但紫禁城内仍是君君臣臣的小朝廷。民女容儿阴差阳错成为宫女后，与侍卫李琪结下渊源，又因自己聪慧活泼而受溥仪青睐。容儿出于对厨艺的悟性颇受寿喜姑姑赏识。两宫太监总管孙义仁长期盗窃宫内珍宝，草菅人命。容儿得知此事后与李琪并肩调查盗宝案，几经生死终将孙义仁绳之以法，但幕后黑手却依然隐藏在暗处。民国十三年，冯玉祥军队将清室逐出紫禁城。盗宝案幕后黑手企图将宫中宝物转移卖给洋商，该阴谋被容儿撞破。众人联手追回国宝，让盗宝奸人得到了应有的惩罚。离开紫禁城的容儿在北京城重开饭馆，人称“末代厨娘”。
