故事发生在1989年的香港，角斗阿B是一名见习医生。内心里充满了正义感的他见到不公平的事情和制度总喜欢挺身而出据理力争，角斗反观他的好友阿牛，遇事只会懦弱的躲藏在阿B的身后，两人的性格大相径庭。可是，正由于阿B强烈的个性，导致了他的导师朱教授对他的反感，在毕业考试中，成绩优异的阿B落榜了，而一直平平无奇的阿牛反倒以优异的成绩毕业。之后，阿B成为了一名社会工作者，并在工作中结识了名为阿梅（李嘉欣 饰）的女孩，阿梅非常欣赏阿B刚正不阿的性格，和她的男友形成了鲜明的对比。久而久之，阿梅渐渐的对阿B产生了别样的感情。
